Fast and Easy Pizza Dough
Since going vegan, I've missed the familiar comfort and taste of good old pizza. I longed for the kind of pizza like I used to have, but without all the processed ingredients and bad stuff hiding in most take away's. I was inspired to have my pizza, but not feel horrible because of it.
Using whole wheat flour makes this dish full of fiber and nutrients that were taken out of white flour while it was processd. This pizza will satiate you and keep you fuller longer. Keep this pizza extra clean by skipping out on the cheese and loading it sky high with veggies instead, which is the way I normally have this yummy dish.
This pizza serves 1-2 regular people or 1 super hungry vegan ;)
RECIPE:
-1 tbsp yeast
-1 tbsp sugar
-1/2 cup warm water
-1 cup whole wheat flour
-1 tbsp mixed dried herbs
-Tomato sauce
-Veggies (like pepper, onion, olives, spinach , basil, tomato, vegan sausage, etc.)
*Optional* Vegan Cheese (Via life, Daiya, Go Veggie, etc.)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Add the yeast, sugar, and warm water into a bowl, mix, and let sit for 10 minutes.
2. Add the flour and mix into dough forms. Cover bowl with kitchen cloth or towel and let rise for 1 hour.
3. Preheat your oven to 400 F
4. Transfer dough onto a floured surface. Either roll the dough or spread it with your hands until it forms a circle, leaving it about 1/4-1/2 an inch thick. If dough gets too sticky, flour your hands and continue to work into a circle.
5. Transfer dough to a lightly floured baking tray and add sauce and toppings of choice.
6. Bake pizza for about 20 minutes or until the crust and bottom is golden brown.
